Ooredoo has today hosted a group of MBA students, from DePaul University who are visiting Qatar as part of a special programme initiated by the ”Sheikh Faisal Center for Entrepreneurship in the Middle East”.

With Ooredoo developing a global reputation for its smart services and cutting-edge network technology, the students were keen to learn more about the company’s approach to innovation and its contribution to the growth of the knowledge-based economy.

As part of the visit, senior executives from Ooredoo answered questions by the students and showed them around the HQ1 headquarters in West Bay. Ooredoo has placed significant emphasis on encouraging innovation in recent years, opening the Ooredoo Advanced Smart Innovative Solutions (OASIS) Lab in Doha and launching a dedicated cross-functional team to focus on innovation issues. The Q&A session was hosted by Ooredoo’s The Business Development & Innovation Team, and included discussions on how Ooredoo fosters innovation internally and the company’s role in the local and global economy.

Yousuf Al Kubaisi, COO, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “Ooredoo believes in the potential of the next generation, and we support them through our services, through our initiatives, and through the diverse array of job opportunities, training and development programmes for young people. Graduates like the ones who attended this meeting are the future of our industry, and their enthusiasm and commitment will deliver great results in the future.”

The core value of this initiative is to strengthen Qatar's entrepreneurial capacity and connect entrepreneurs in Doha and Chicago enhancing knowledge transfer. It was inspiring to learn about the initiatives adopted by Ooredoo to foster innovation and help the country achieve its goals in line with Qatar 2030 National Vision.”

The opportunity enabled DePaul University students to be exposed to the telecom industry and learn more about real-world experiences in the sector. DePaul University is one of America’s largest private universities and has nearly 300 undergraduate majors and graduate programmes, and is known for its high-calibre graduates.
