Ooredoo is National Telecommunication Partner of FINA Swimming World Cup

Ooredoo has today been named the National Telecommunication Partner of the upcoming 2016 FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup, which is set to take place in Doha on 8-9 October.

The FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup is an international series of short course (25m) swimming competitions. The 2016 competition kicked-off on Friday August 26 in Paris, with further legs of the nine-meet circuit in Berlin, Moscow, Beijing and Dubai, before heading to Doha.

Waleed Al Sayed, Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “As the National Telecom Partner, Ooredoo will provide essential support for the competitors and competition, including ensuring enhanced access to our Supernet in the stadium for fans, media and competitors.” “We are proud to support this international swimming competition which will enhance Qatar’s position on the global sporting map, and will also inspire young people around the world to live healthier lifestyles. We encourage everyone to attend the event and share their pictures, to showcase Qatar’s athletes and world-class facilities on a global stage,” he added.

The Doha competition will be held at the Hamad Aquatic Center in Aspire, and competing athletes will include last year's overall Swimming World Cup winners Katinka Hosszu and Cameron Van der Burgh. Ooredoo will provide a strong Internet connection at the stadium with its Smart Wi-Fi solution, to enable visitors to share selfies, videos and photos from the competition, as the company continues to invest in Smart Stadium solutions for major events. Ooredoo’s support for the FINA Swimming World Cup in Doha is part of the company’s ongoing support for the Qatar Olympic Committee.

Ooredoo was named the National Sponsor of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) earlier in the year, and as part of the agreement, Ooredoo is supporting a host of QOC initiatives during 2016, including all Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) events, FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup events, and the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series. As National Telecommunication Partner, Ooredoo will take its brand to a global audience of swimming fans, with the Ooredoo logo visible on several key placements at the championship’s venues, which will be featured in local and international broadcasts.
