IBQ launches a new Ramadan personal loans promotion with 15% Cashback

During the holy month of Ramadan, International Bank of Qatar (ibq) is launching a new personal loan promotion offering 15% cashback of the total first year interest payment. The promotion also gives customers an optional grace period of 3 months and is available to both existing and new ibq customers.

The promotion is valid for customers taking loans with a minimum loan term of 36 months and a minimum loan amount of QAR 200,000. In addition to the cashback customer will also receive thanq points for the loans taken. thanq is ibq’s awards winning programme that offers the Bank’s customers the chance to redeem their points at over 800 airlines, 160,000 hotels, car rental services worldwide and for Nojoom Points from Ooredoo.

Nojoom members can donate points to charity this Ramadan

Ooredoo has encouraged its Nojoom Members to donate their Nojoom Points to charities in Qatar during the Holy Month. With Nojoom Charity redemption, members can donate to some of Qatar’s best loved charitable organisations easier than ever before, by simply using their points for vouchers starting at QR 25 up to QR 2000.

Ooredoo visits children at Hamad Hospital

Ooredoo brought smiles and happiness to children at Hamad Hospital yesterday, as a group of volunteers from the company visited the patients and distributed gifts. The visit is part of a series of activities planned for the Holy Month of Ramadan to perform random acts of kindness supported by Ooredoo to hospitals, homes for the elderly and children’s centres.

During the visit, Ooredoo volunteers distributed gifts and thanked doctors and staff in the children’s ward for their hard work. Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director Community and Public Relations, Ooredoo said: “This year’s campaign #CloserConnection is not just about connecting with your loved ones, but those in need. Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces today, thanks to our volunteers, was a gift, and I thank the hard work of all the staff at Hamad Hospital for their dedication in helping these children.”

Ooredoo has hosted a special Ramadan Suhoor gathering at the Westin Hotel in Doha this month, as part of its efforts to reach out to the business community during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The guests represented some of Qatar’s leading small, medium and SOHO (Small Office/Home Office) companies, and the event was an important opportunity for colleagues and clients to spend time together outside of work.

Ooredoo has placed strong emphasis on Qatar’s small business community in 2016, expanding its portfolio to include a range of tailored products and services. This has included the launch of dedicated business desks in select Ooredoo retail shops to provide companies with easier access to Ooredoo’s business services. Ooredoo closes latest bond issue

Ooredoo Q.S.C (Ticker: ORDS.QA: “Ooredoo”) today announced the successful closing of the previously announced pricing of its US$ 500 million senior unsecured Reg S/Rule 144A notes (the “Notes”). The Notes were issued by its wholly owned subsidiary, Ooredoo International Finance Limited under the USD 5,000,000,000 Global Medium Term Note Programme established on the Irish Stock Exchange. The Notes are unconditionally and irrevocably guaranteed by Ooredoo.

The Notes will mature on 22 June 2026 and will have a coupon of 3.75 %. The transaction was priced at a margin of 2.27 % over the 10-year U.S. Treasury bond. Net proceeds from the sale of the Notes will be used for Ooredoo’s general corporate purposes, including refinancing of its existing indebtedness.

Ooredoo gifts water and dates on the Corniche

After a hugely successful session of distributing dates and water to walkers and families on the Corniche during the first week of Ramadan, Ooredoo volunteers have returned to the site to surprise customers again.

Yesterday, a group of Ooredoo volunteers, and the company’s popular mascots the Alrabaa, arrived to surprise people walking along Doha’s Corniche with a special gift of water and dates to break their fast for Iftar. The volunteers, who represented some of the business units across the company, were stationed at the end of the Corniche near West Bay, to distribute the gifts at sunset to passers-by, as well as people driving along to seafront.

The Alrabaa were also on hand to entertain children and their parents, pose for photos and spread joy. Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director, Community and Public Relations, Ooredoo said: “After the success of our first distribution on the Corniche we wanted to come back and give anyone a chance who had missed us to join the fun. Ooredoo and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Qatar Chamber) have today signed a major cooperation agreement that will see the two organisations work together to better represent Qatar’s business community and support the Qatar National Vision 2030. The agreement was signed by Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Chief Operating Officer, Ooredoo Qatar and Saleh Hamad Al Sharqi, Director General of Qatar Chamber in a signing ceremony at Ooredoo Headquarters.

Ooredoo launches Monthly Passport Pack

Ooredoo has today announced the launch of the new Monthly Passport Pack, as the company supports travellers over the summer season. The Monthly Passport Pack is perfect for Shahry customers travelling outside of Qatar for a longer period this summer, as it offers them more roaming minutes and roaming data when they are abroad.

The new Monthly Passport Pack provides customers with 300 roaming minutes for receiving, making calls and 4GB of roaming mobile data. In the GCC, it includes an extra 4GB of roaming mobile data – all valid for 30 days for just QR 350. Shahry business and consumer customers can activate the new Monthly Passport Pack via the Ooredoo app or by sending an SMS with “OPM” to 114. Ooredoo updates Hala Business Packs

Ooredoo has today announced that, in response to popular demand, the company has added a new option to its Hala Business Packs. Based on customer feedback, which asked for more flexibility for people using the service, customers using Hala Business Packs will now be able to use their allowance for SMS as well as local call minutes.

Whereas previously the allowance only applied to local call minutes, with this new update, customers can choose to spend their credit on call minutes or SMS, or a mix of both. Talking about the update, Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director, Community and Public Relations, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “We listen to customer feedback, and business users wanted more flexibility and choice with their bundles. Ooredoo launches Direct Carrier Billing with Google

Ooredoo today announced the launch of a Direct Carrier Billing service with Google, to make it easier for Android users to purchase apps, games, and digital content on their devices.

With the introduction of Direct Carrier Billing with Google, customers can now perform any online purchase transaction through the Google Play Store, by paying for their purchases via their mobile phone balance without the need of using their credit cards. Direct Carrier Billing allows users of select mobile operators to pay for digital content on Google Play by billing purchases to their mobile accounts; post-paid or prepaid. Once the payment option is set-up, customers are able to charge application and content purchases from the Play Store directly to their mobile accounts.

The Google Play store is the official application store for Android smartphones and tablets. Google makes software applications, music, movies and books available for purchase and download through the store. The Google Play store, which comes pre-installed on Android devices, allows users to purchase, download and install applications from Google and third-party developers.

Ooredoo and Cisco build on strategic partnership

Since signing two significant agreements at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2016, Ooredoo and Cisco have continued to work together to build a diverse portfolio of strategic solutions for businesses in Qatar.

Ooredoo lands new AAE-1 global submarine cable in Qatar

Senior executives from Ooredoo gathered at Simaisma Beach in Qatar to witness the landing of the new high capacity Asia-Africa-Europe-1 (AAE-1) subsea cable system in Qatar.

The landmark achievement marks another important chapter in Qatar’s ongoing journey to becoming a crucial communications hub that connects the world’s major and developing economies. Ooredoo is one of the anchor members of AAE-1 project, working with international partners to strengthen global internet infrastructure and provide new routes for internet traffic.” Speaking at the event, Waleed Al-Sayed, Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “The AAE-1 cable will provide people in Qatar with access to new, high-speed global routing, and faster, more reliable bandwidth. As part of our vision to continually enhance the Ooredoo Supernet, we are investing in major internet infrastructure that will enable Qatar to become one of the best-connected countries.”

AAE-1 (Asia-Africa-Europe-1) is a consortium submarine cable system linking the major internet hubs of Asia, Africa and Europe. The 25,000 km long submarine cable is the third longest and one of the highest capacity cable systems currently under deployment anywhere in the world. Ooredoo Global Services has played a key role as a consortium partner in the development of this project along with Ooredoo Qatar, Technology Unit, who took part in the project management and coordinated with local and foreign authorities to obtain the necessary permits.

Upon completion later this year, the new cable will enable high capacity towards major Internet hubs and low latency access to Europe and Asia, delivering significant benefits for customers in Qatar. The cable will also facilitate higher speed services, supporting the planned launch of 5G services in Qatar. As well as Qatar, the cable will land in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Oman, UAE, Yemen, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Greece, Italy, and France. In addition to supporting enhanced internet speeds and high quality voice services, the cable will provide additional protection and diversity to the world’s heavily-congested cable systems, ensuring that companies and individuals suffer less from bottlenecks or disruption caused by cable breaks.

The AAE-1 cable deploys the latest 100Gbps technology, with a design capacity of more than 40 terabits and is structured to channel traffic along the lowest latency routes. It will use diversified points of presence to increase flexibility for carriers and their customers. The AAE-1 subsea cable system is the latest and one of the most important global consortium cables to land in Qatar, and will help position the country as a major hub for telecommunications connectivity in the GCC and wider region.

Ooredoo signs strategic agreement with Mobimedia International

Ooredoo has today announced a group strategic agreement with digital consumer technology company Mobimedia International to launch a full suite of mobile consumer services across its footprint in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia.

The agreement follows the two companies’ successful collaboration in launching the mJams Music Streaming app in Myanmar earlier this year. Ooredoo anticipates strong demand for the mJams app in other markets, particularly given the rich library of content available, tailored to a wide range of tastes.

The mJams app provides a convenient and high-quality way for customers to enjoy the latest local and international music directly from their handset. With just a smartphone, customers can access any song from mJams’ library of music and playlists and, by deploying the service over Ooredoo’s world-class mobile data networks, the mJams app delivers an incredible listening experience. With real time data aggregation, mJams’ content is constantly optimised to reflect the trends and tastes of its users, creating a nationwide database of the most popular music.

Ooredoo announced today that its award-winning Ooredoo Mobile App has undergone a massive revamp. The Ooredoo Mobile app, which was launched in April 2013, has been one of the most popular apps in Qatar since its launch and has been downloaded over 600,000 times.
