Ooredoo has today announced they will be one of the sponsors at the second Information Security Conference for the Financial Sector in Qatar. This year’s conference will come under the theme of ‘Enhancing IT Security in the Financial Sector in today’s world,’ and will be organised by Qatar Central Bank under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Abdulla Bin Saoud Al-Thani, Governor of the Qatar Central Bank.
Waleed Al Sayed, Chief Operating Officer, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “We’re proud to sponsor such an important event both for the country and the region. As more and more businesses become connected, their online security is our number one priority, which is why we invest in state-of-the-art cyber solutions. We will use our presence at the event to introduce the next generation of smart security solutions, and highlight how Ooredoo is protecting financial companies on the Ooredoo Supernet.”
Ooredoo will display a range of services designed specifically to meet the high security needs of financial service companies at the Information Security Conference and highlight how these companies can protect their clients with cutting-edge integrated security solutions. 2015 saw a sharp increase in the number of cyber-attacks targeting companies, organizations and government institutions across the GCC, with a number of high profile entities seeing their websites compromised and systems breached.
Ooredoo has been a pioneer of introducing the latest security technologies to Qatar, and its nationwide network of Ooredoo Data Centres are playing an important role in providing cloud and managed security services, ideally positioned to protect Qatar’s critical national infrastructure such as the finance sector. Alongside other next generation solutions, Ooredoo will be exhibiting their Distributed Denial of Service Attack solution (DDoS), Cloud Security services and Out-of-Country Disaster Recovery.
Ooredoo's DDoS monitors, analyses and protects network operations through two major lines of defines, a centralised DDoS mitigation platform, and an application-layer security service. The Cloud Security Solution offers features such as URL Filtering & Browser Control, Inline anti-virus & anti-spyware, Email Security, Data Leak Prevention and Full Visibility Reporting for business owners. The company’s Out-of-Country Disaster Recovery (OOC DR) solution provides managed hosting and co-location at three key global destinations in East Asia (Singapore), Europe (London), and America (Santa Clara), with a range of global connectivity options including MPLS, global dedicated Ethernet and internet VPN services.
The Information Security Conference for the Financial Sector will take place at The Ritz-Carlton in West Bay Lagoon from 15 - 16 November 2015 and aims to shed light on information security, the challenges facing financial institutions, the solutions available to tackle these challenges, and the necessary recommendations to achieve the goal.
