Ooredoo announces new direct top-up digital recharges for Hala customers

Ooredoo announced it has launched a new digital recharge option for its Hala customers, meaning they will no longer need to purchase paper recharge cards.

The new Direct Top-Up recharges will be available at a number of retail outlets across Qatar via electronic point-of-sale terminals. In line with Ooredoo’s goal of complete digitalisation, the current paper recharge cards are being phased out and will be replaced by the digital Direct Top-Up recharges. The new electronic point-of-sale terminals will enable customers to quickly, easily and securely purchase recharges for Hala accounts digitally. Current roll-out is supermarkets and grocery stores, with the entire network of point-of-sale locations across Qatar the end goal.

Speaking of the launch, Manar Khalifa Al-Muraikhi – Director PR and Corporate Communications at Ooredoo– said: “We’re committed to our goal of complete digitalisation and to this end, we’re delighted to now offer digital recharges to our Hala customers. The new Direct Top-Ups offer a secure, efficient way to purchase recharges without the need for paper recharge cards, meaning there’s no longer a risk of losing a recharge card or of not being able to get the denomination you want. This is a great step forward for us and for our customers, and we’re confident the new Direct Top-Ups will be well received.”

To purchase a digital recharge for a Hala line, customers need simply visit their chosen outlet, provide their mobile number, specify the recharge denomination and the staff member will process the digital recharge which will be effective immediately. Customers will receive an SMS on their Hala line to confirm the recharge.
