Ooredoo and Mastercard have announced the upcoming launch of Masterpass in Qatar, a service designed to offer a new level of payments convenience to Ooredoo’s growing base of consumers in Qatar.
Masterpass is a simple, convenient and trusted digital payment service for faster, safe shopping at thousands of retailers – online, in-app or in-store. With Masterpass, consumers can make intuitive and secure purchases across devices, channels and borders from a single trusted solution. The launch of Masterpass in Qatar brings an innovative digital payment solution to Ooredoo customers, who will be able to use the service to pay for all Ooredoo Services with only a single tap of their smartphones via the Ooredoo App.
“The Qatar National E-commerce Roadmap 2017 has identified e-commerce as a key imperative for the country’s thriving business community, owing to factors including a robust ICT infrastructure and high levels of internet and mobile connectivity. The launch of Masterpass in Qatar will support the objectives of this vision by offering consumers a quick, safe and convenient payments solution, thereby increasing consumer confidence in digital commerce and accelerating the adoption of electronic payments,” said Pankaj Kathuria, Country Manager, Qatar & Kuwait, Mastercard.
Yousef Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Chief Operating Officer, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Mastercard to bring this brand-new service to Qatar. Ooredoo has a host of self-service payment options, however we’re always looking and investing in ways to make our customer experience truly seamless and we hope Masterpass will help us achieve this.”
The announcement was made on the sidelines of Mobile World Congress 2018 that took place in Barcelona Spain and the service will be available for all Ooredoo customers in Qatar later in 2018.
