Ooredoo has today announced that all mobile calls to Syria will be discounted to just 30Dhs per minute/SMS for the next week, in an effort to connect people with friends and family during the humanitarian crisis in Aleppo.
The discounted international calls offer applies to all mobile calls made between 16 -23 December using the international code +963 to Syria. Currently standard rate calls to Syria cost QR0.99 per minute/SMS via Hala or Shahry numbers.
With this discounted offer, all Ooredoo users can access the discounted price of just 30Dhs per minute/SMS to Syria until 23 December 2016. This 30Dhs rate will be applicable only after a customer’s international allowance has been consumed. Waleed Mohamed Ebrahim Al Sayed (pictured), Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “We hope this initiative enables our Syrian customers in Qatar to stay in touch with their loved ones during this frightening time. Ooredoo pledge to make every effort to support those who are suffering and in fear and we are encouraging you all, and our employees, to donate to help those in need.”
The crises in the Syrian city of Aleppo has gained international attention in the past week, after intensive aerial bombing left most medical facilities, civil defence and municipal centres and vehicles, as well as schools, destroyed or damaged. Key routes once securely connecting the city to Turkey were also recently chocked off, leaving civilians trapped without supplies such as food, medicine and water.
