Ooredoo volunteers have surprised families waiting for the Ramadan Cannon in Doha by distributing Iftar boxes when the cannon was fired. The firing of the “Midfa al Iftar” (Ramadan cannon) announces the breaking of the fast, and is a very old tradition that is still practiced across the region.
After hearing the Ramadan cannon, families gathered to break their fast and enjoy the sunset at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque, while children played and took pictures with the Ooredoo team. Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director, Community and Public Relations, Ooredoo said: “It’s a great honour to share this experience with our community. The Midfa al Iftar tradition is something that keeps our culture alive, and we welcome everyone to come and enjoy this spirit of togetherness.”
The visit was part of a series of community and charity activities this Ramadan at various events and locations around the country. Customers can follow Ooredoo’s Ramadan campaign via Ooredoo’s Facebook, Instagram or Twitter page and the hashtag #CloserConnection.
