Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading communications company, and the Qatar Football Association (QFA), the governing body of football in Qatar, have today signed a three year partnership agreement in a ceremony at Ooredoo’s HQ1 in West Bay.
The agreement, which was signed by Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Chief Operating Officer, Ooredoo Qatar and Mansoor Al Ansari,General Secretary of QFA,will see Ooredoo support two of the QFA’s top events, The Emir Cup and University League, as well as the Qatar National 'A' Team and Qatar National Olympic Team. With today’s agreement, Ooredoo will be the official telecommunication partner for all QFA events until 2018.
Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, COO Ooredoo, said: “Ooredoo has been a supporter of football in Qatar for a long time. Mansoor Al Ansari, General Secretary of QFA, commented: “We are delighted to sign this partnership agreement with a global telecommunications company such as Ooredoo, to support the country’s biggest football tournament of the year. By partnering with Ooredoo, we are able to reach a wider segment of our fans, therefore, allowing them to extend their support to the most famous tournament in Qatar. As a pioneer national association, the QFA is constantly committed to developing strategic partnerships with major entities in Qatar, to ensure that football acts as an effective tool to help achieve the National Vision 2030, and therefore, our partnership with Ooredoo reinforces this goal.”
The sponsorship is the latest in a long line of agreements between Ooredoo and QFA, as the organisations work together to promote football in Qatar in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™. Ooredoo is offering financial support for the events and teams, and will be encouraging its customers to watch and attend upcoming games via its Supernet network and through newspaper adverts. This is the latest in a series of Ooredoo promotions and activities built around sporting tournaments in 2016, including the Qatar Cup, the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2016, and the Ooredoo Marathon.
