Ooredoo Global Services (OGS), the wholesale arm of Ooredoo and Sparkle, the international services arm of Telecom Italia Group and a leading global operator, announced today the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for new telecommunication services and knowledge transfer. The strategic agreement will see the two companies collaborate on a range of joint initiatives and services in the voice, data, cloud, multimedia and digital spaces.

The agreement will enable OGS to leverage Sparkle’s state-of-the-art IP-MPLS backbone and the strategic positioning of Sicily as a hub for telecomunications services, particularly for Africa, Middle East and the Mediterranean basin. This will support OGS’ efforts to optimise its global network and promote Doha, capital of Qatar as a regional gateway for voice and data traffic. OGS offers a single point of contact for global wholesale carriers across the Ooredoo footprint and offers one of the largest Internet peering networks in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia.
