As well as internal activities, Ooredoo will be encouraging customers to educate themselves through their social media pages on World Health Day. World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on 7 April, under the sponsorship of the World Health Organisation (WHO). This year, the World Health Organisation has dedicated the day to highlight the epidemic rapidly increasing in many countries – diabetes.

According to the International Diabetes Federation, 415 million people have diabetes in the world and more than 35.4 million people in the MENA Region. In Qatar alone there were an estimated 239,100 cases of diabetes in 2015. Ooredoo sponsors and supports a host of events and programmes aimed to promote healthy living, education and community across Qatar, including building and operating the Fahad Bin Jassim Kidney Centre to support kidney patients in Qatar and the Ooredoo Cancer Awareness Centre.
