Ooredoo has congratulated the winners of the regional finals of the 3rd Arab Mobile Challenge, at a special ceremony held in Algiers, Algeria, earlier this month. Launched in 2013, the Arab Mobile App Challenge enables teams of up to six members under the age of 35 to develop mobile apps designed to make a difference across their communities. As a founder and a key partner of the Arab Mobile Challenge, Ooredoo was proud to participate in the regional final, which saw 24 teams from across the region present their app designs and business plans to a jury of industry experts and professionals.

Two teams received the prize of financial support for their apps, in order to bring them to market. These were the “VISIONGEEKS” developers from Sudan and “BOOKR” from Kuwait. Five other winner teams advanced to compete at the Global Mobile Challenge, to be held during GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February. These teams were the developers of “SYNOOS” from Algeria, “DOHA GUIDE” from Qatar, “MY U TEAM” from Kuwait, “GRAVILOG” from Palestine and “RAYE7” from Egypt.

Organised by IMTIAZ MIDDLE EAST, more than twenty teams representing different countries participated in the regional final, including teams from Algeria, Qatar, Tunisia, Lebanon, Palestine, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Oman and Sudan. Each team presented their idea for an app that could have a positive impact on their communities, including concepts to address specific issues in education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, employability, and entertainment.
